Earning her A.A. and B.A. degrees from the College of San Mateo and San
Jose State University in instrumental and vocal music, music theory and jazz performance, completing credential work at San
Francisco State University, and becoming a nationally certified private teacher member of the Music Teachers National Association,
the Northern Nevada Music Teachers Association and the International Association of Jazz Education since 1992, Erika has been
teaching privately and presenting jazz in public schools for over 25 years and has been a skilled, professional performer
on piano and vocals in numerous bands for evey imaginable venue, social and special event. Since 1998, Erika is the jazz and
blues music resident artist for the Nevada Arts Council, and also worked as a mentor teacher for Wynton Marsalis in 2001,
preparing a select group of Truckee/Tahoe City high school teens for a big band music clinic and concert. Erika also performed
in 2003 with saxist and arranger Bill Liston of the award-winning movie Chicago, and in 1982, Erika met and played one of
her early compositions with world-renowned saxist Stan Getz.
To date, Erika has recorded 8 cds of classic jazz standards and original
